Central Program Council’s Issues Committee Spring Applications

Dear Graduate students,

please see the following message regarding the Issues Committee Spring applications:

Hello,

My name is Hannah Bailey, and I am the Vice Chair of the Central Program Council’s Issues Committee. Our spring membership drive is beginning this coming week, and if you have the time, we would greatly appreciate you forwarding this email through your listserv. Because Issues Committee is a programming council which uses student fees to bring speakers and events to the university and because we strive to compile a diverse array of programming, it is important for us that our members come from all across campus. Thank you for your time.

The mission of the Issues Committee is to bring interesting and informative issues to the UTK’s campus. The Issues Committee guides its programming toward ideas and issues that can stimulate and enrich the university community and spark interesting conversations among its students. These programs are flexible in nature. Sometimes a program involves a speaker presenting an idea; other times it might be a Q&A or play like production. We try in everything we do to reflect the diversity of values in the university community.

Recent speakers have included Bill Nye the Science Guy, Reverend Al Sharpton, Alan Keyes, sports journalist Frank Deford, photographer James Nachtwey, and animal activist Jack Hana.

If you are interested in helping to broaden the mindsets of our campus community and enjoy event planning and programming, please consider filling out an application. All applications must be submitted by midnight on Thursday, March 21. These applications will be looked over, and the top applicants will be interviewed during the week of April 1. You can find the application here, http://activities.utk.edu/cpc/issues/ . If you have any questions, please email Hannah Bailey athbailey8@utk.edu with the subject line Issues Committee Spring Applications.

Thank you,

Hannah Bailey
