Full-time Tenure Track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Major Responsibilities and/or Classes to be taught
The State University of New York College at Cortland invites applications for a full time tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Sport Management to begin Fall 2017. The Sport Management program emphasizes experiential learning and is committed to the practice-to-theory-to-practice model of teaching. Responsibility will be to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Department. Depending on experience and Department needs, the candidate must be able to teach in preferably two (2) or more of the following areas of the sport academy: sales and entrepreneurship; intercollegiate athletics management; finance; ethics; organizational behavior; strategic management; research methods. Additional responsibilities include academic advisement, service, and scholarly work.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
Works under the direct supervision of the department chair. Works closely with the department chair and faculty and staff within the department. Additional working relationships with faculty and staff in other college departments.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Sport Management or related discipline. ABD with a designated date of completion within twelve (12) months of start date may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in Sport Management, preferably in two (2) or more areas previously indicated, and demonstrated record of: scholarly work (publications and presentations) in Sport Management or strong evidence of such scholarly work in the future; professional experience in the sport industry; involvement as a member of national/international professional association related to sport management and/or the sport industry; and academic and/or community service.
