Assistant/Associate Professor – Nine-Month Tenure Track Faculty Position

The Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Recreation at the University of Utah (www.utah.edu) invites applications for tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Health and Kinesiology Program. Candidates should have a strong research background related to applied biomechanics and neuromuscular control. Candidates with interests in working with clinical groups including stroke, Parkinson’s and elderly groups at risk of falling are actively encouraged. There are existing opportunities for collaboration in these research areas within the Department and the greater Health Sciences Center including the School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, and Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapies. Research infrastructure exists to assist in the development of research enterprise through the College of Health Research Office and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science.

At the Assistant Professor level, candidates should possess a quality track record of peer reviewed publications and external funding. At the Associate Professor level candidates should have evidence of sustained excellence in publications and external funding. Candidates will be expected to continue a strong line of scholarship and external funding as well as teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, mentor graduate students conducting MS Thesis and/or Ph.D. dissertation research, and participate in professional, department, college, and university service.

APPOINTMENT

Nine-month tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. and academic preparation in Kinesiology/Psychology/Neuroscience or a closely related discipline required. Evidence of research, teaching, and service effectiveness.

COLLEGE/GENERAL INFORMATION

The Health and Kinesiology program is a part of the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Recreation (HKR), within the College of Health, which is one of five components in the Health Sciences Center at the University of Utah (along with the School of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, and College of Dentistry). The Health and Kinesiology program has approximately 1500 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students (Masters and Doctoral).

Located on the northeastern edge of Salt Lake City, our 1,500 acre campus reaches to the foothills of the majestic Wasatch Mountains. Over 30,000 students represent all 50 states and many foreign countries. More than 2,000 clinical, adjunct, research, and visiting faculty serve the student body.
